HEALTH

  • The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (“IHME”) at the University of Washington indicated late last week that “after May 25, 2020, relaxing social distancing may be possible with containment strategies that include testing, contact tracing, isolation, and limiting gathering size.” Although previously the IHME listed Indiana’s surge in hospitalizations and deaths as the past nine days, the IHME model now predicts the Indiana death toll will jump over 900 by May 14.
  • Over the weekend, the coronavirus death toll in Indiana reached 562, and there were 577 new cases reported. As a result, the Indiana State Department of Health announced free COVID-19 drive-thru testing clinics in Allen, Clark, Decatur, and Lake Counties. These clinics will be active Monday through Wednesday and will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day or until testing supplies run out.
