ECONOMIC
- On March 31, 2020, Governor Pritzker announced that he will sign another Executive Order, extending the time that all Illinois residents are to shelter in place. Health officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health announced an additional 937 cases in the State of Illinois, confirming the total number of cases is 5,994. Illinois public and private schools will remain closed until April 30, 2020. The provisions of the prior order will remain in place, with directives for restaurants and bars to remain closed or provide carry out, curbside, or delivery service only. Only those businesses deemed essential will be open to the public, but employees and patrons must adhere to social distancing measures.
- On March 20, 2020, Governor Pritzker issued an Executive Order which, in part, ceased enforcement of orders of eviction for the duration of the pandemic. Along with Governor Pritzker’s order, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (“IDFPR”) issued guidance of their own. The IDFPR is urging all mortgage services to defer payments for 90 days for those suffering hardship as a result of COVID-19. Although citizens are not relieved of their obligation to pay, these directions are necessary to help those who are facing economic hardships due to being out of work as a result of the pandemic.
A public emergency such as the one we are experiencing with COVID-19 is unlike anything any of us has ever experienced.
