LaDonna Driver, Alec Messina, Michael Murphy, and Melissa Brown led a session at the recent Environmental Basics Conference in Springfield, Illinois. The conference was presented jointly by the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IERG). The HB attorneys’ session was titled, “Environmental Enforcement: Avoid if Possible, Navigate if Necessary.”

All four attorneys focus their practices on environmental law and are based in the firm’s Springfield office. Driver, a partner, serves clients primarily in air permitting, compliance, and regulatory development. Messina, also a partner, assists clients in navigating complex matters, utilizing his experience as former Chief Legal Counsel and Director of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, as well as having been Executive Director of IERG. Murphy is an experienced litigator who defends clients in state-initiated enforcement actions and citizen lawsuits claiming injuries from environmental contamination. He, too is a partner. Brown, an associate, is skilled in assisting clients with permitting, regulatory compliance, and litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
