Defendant pled guilty of DWI and careless and imprudent driving. Defendant was also texting at time of accident and ran head on into plaintiffs vehicle which was stopped waiting to make a left turn. Significant impact. Plaintiff was christian scientist so refused medical treatment at hospital. Plaintiff had no further treatment due to religious beliefs. Plaintiff had bruising and burns from accident. Plaintiff continued to complain of knee, back, pain which caused him to significantly curtail activities. Plaintiff asked jury for $100,000. Jury awarded $5,000.
