Alec Messina and Melissa Brown will be speaking at the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association’s Environmental, Health & Safety meeting on April 28, 2026. The two HeplerBroom attorneys will update attendees on best practices for handling environmental inspections and violation notices.
Messina, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, helps craft innovative solutions to clients’ environmental problems. He spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group and works with clients in HeplerBroom’s Environmental Law practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and had also been the Governor’s Policy Adviser for Energy and Environment.
Brown, also a partner in the Springfield office, assists businesses with a wide variety of environmental issues. Her clients regularly rely on her to provide counsel on complying with Illinois and federal environmental statutes and regulations.
