Chicago Staff Members Donate Time to Help The Period Collective
Christian Cuque and Eve Meyers recently volunteered their time to pack 125 bags of menstrual products that were being shipped to partners of The Period Collective. An all-volunteer non-profit organization, The Period Collective distributes menstrual products to social service organizations such as schools, food banks, and shelters. Their mission is to create a world where everyone has access to feminine hygiene products, regardless of their income or living situation.
“I didn’t know about this organization and am glad I can now share their information so even more people can be helped,” said Cuque. Meyers commented, “I was aware that women in third world countries and in countries where women are oppressed had issues getting feminine hygiene products. I had not considered that women in our own backyard had similar difficulties.”
Cuque’s and Meyers efforts were part of HeplerBroom’s Volunteer Time-Off Program. All full-time employees are allowed up to four hours of paid time off each year to participate in a group volunteer opportunity arranged by the firm. The program is designed to create meaningful, purposeful, and helpful community engagement opportunities for the firm’s employees.
