On Friday, November 17, 2017, the Springfield office hosted a free, one-day employment law seminar on critical topics in employment law. Topics covered included an array of employment law matters, including best practices for hiring and firing, social media policies, discrimination and harassment issues, employee handbook concerns, and wage and hour rules. Speakers were HeplerBroom attorneys who are experienced in navigating human resource compliance issues, as well as firm attorneys who have represented both employees and employers in employment-related litigation. Attendees who are members of the Society for Human Resource Management were eligible to earn continuing education credits.

An Illinois appellate court affirmed judgment for a defendant after a plaintiff failed to prove damages tied to an alleged breach of
