The Takeaway

The Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ISHRM) is offering a webinar by HeplerBroom attorneys LaDonna Boeckman and Chelsea Caldwell addressing the application of HIPAA on unique situations frequently encountered by hospitals and clinics. The two attorneys will focus on how HIPAA applies in “oddly common” situations (e.g., law enforcement arriving during an investigation, being present during Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity, dealing with fractured family situations, the handling of subpoenas). The goal is to help medical providers navigate often contentious circumstances.  Both ISHRM members and non-members are invited to attend the Nov. 13 event. Registration is available on ISHRM’s website.

Boeckman, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, works with medical professionals and others in the healthcare industry to make the complex simple and understandable for both clients and juries. She is the former recipient of a Jury Verdict Reporter Trial Lawyer Excellence Award for an outstanding defense verdict in a dental malpractice matter.

Caldwell, an associate in the firm’s DuPage County office, focuses her practice on the defense of medical and dental malpractice, nursing home cases, and professional liability matters. She has been selected to the list of National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 and has been named an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star.
