Alec Messina will be the featured speaker at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce continuing education webinar on environmental justice. In his workshop, entitled “Environmental Justice: How Popularity Contests Can Trump Business Decisions,” Messina will help participants define environmental justice, learn how Illinois is incorporating it into its decision-making processes, and plan and prepare for challenges involving the implementation of environmental justice before they emerge.
Messina, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, spearheads HB’s Government Affairs practice group and is also a member of its Environmental Law practice team. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was previously the Illinois Governor’s Policy Adviser on Energy and Environment.
