Tom Magee and Kat Hamilton obtained a defense verdict for HeplerBroom’s client, St. Louis Cold Drawn, Inc. Plaintiff Walter Douglas filed a claim for personal injuries allegedly sustained on 8/31/10 at St. Louis Cold Drawn, Inc. Plaintiff claimed that a 700 pound+ spreader bar, which had fallen from an overhead crane, hit his shoulder, leading to right shoulder, neck and low back injuries. Specifically, he claimed that surgery (cervical fusion at C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels) performed on his neck in March of 2011 was directly caused by the incident, and he further claimed that he could no longer work in his chosen profession as an over-the-road truck driver. He has not worked since 9/4/10. Plaintiff sought $1.6 million at trial. Jury came back after an hour and 20 minutes and all 12 jurors found in favor of St. Louis Cold Drawn, Inc. Plaintiff was awarded zero.
