HeplerBroom Attorney David Kowert

Overview

David G. Kowert focuses his legal practice exclusively on defending employers and insurers in Missouri and Illinois workers’ compensation claims. He has handled hundreds of claims from initial investigation through resolution. This includes cases involving dismissals, settlements, and trials and appeals.

Employers, insurers, and insurance organizations seek his advice on how to implement workplace safety and drug policies as well as how to anticipate the impact of pending legislation. They also retain him to perform “post-mortem” analyses of whether claims were adequately handled.

He’s handled claims in every venue in Missouri and Illinois and defended employers from nearly every field of industry, with particular experience in healthcare, entertainment and gaming, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, construction, security, and transportation.

His defense experience runs the gamut, including:

○ disputed death claims

○ alleged permanent total disability claims
○ heart attacks ○ toxic exposures
○ operated spine injuries ○ amputations
○ repetitive trauma cases (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome) ○ complex fractures
○ drug and safety violations ○ fraudulent claims

Outside of the office, he is a father of two, an active member of his local parish, and an avid sports fan.
