Missouri Government Actions on COVID-19 – Updated 4/9/2020

Today’s update discusses:

  • Request for National Guard to take over COVID-19 testing sites

EMERGENCY SERVICES

  • St. Louis County executive Dr. Sam Page has requested that Governor Parson activate some National Guard service personnel to staff COVID-19 testing sites.  Presently, nurses from various health systems staff the testing sites. Dr. Page suggests that these nurses’ skills will be better utilized for patient care within the health systems.  Therefore, he has asked for at least 50 National Guard members to administer COVID-19 tests to replace the nursing staff. Given the expected peak in cases to come, the need for the National Guard assistance may be on the rise.
