Gordon Broom, HeplerBroom partner was among those awarded at the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce annual awards dinner and auction at SIUE on Saturday, March 10th. Mr. Broom was presented the Albert Cassens Award for Outstanding Community Achievement. Mr. Broom has been a resident of Edwardsville since 1971 and has served the community in numerous ways including the YMCA board, SIUE and Edwardsville School District foundations. In 2006, he started his role as president of the Historic St. Louis Street Association with a primary goal in mind; to restore the original beauty of St. Louis Street and eliminate the utility wires and poles. After six years of fundraising, negotiating, and relying on community support the project was successfully completed.
