Court Awards Costs to HeplerBroom’s Client After McGonigle Secures Reduced Verdict

A St. Charles County, Missouri, court awarded costs to HeplerBroom’s client following a jury trial in a rear-end automobile accident case. The defense, led by HeplerBroom attorney Adam McGonigle, admitted liability and disputed damages. Before suit, the plaintiff had demanded $100,000 for the claim, in which he alleged permanent back and neck injuries. The jury awarded only $6,000, which was less than McGonigle’s pre-suit Offer of Judgment, resulting in the award of costs to McGonigle’s client. McGonigle noted that the favorable results were very much a team effort that also involved great work by associate attorney Andrew Gilkerson, paralegal Krystal Leemon, and legal secretaries Shauna Bronsman and Penny Meyer.

McGonigle, an associate in the firm’s St. Louis office, focuses his practice on litigation and trials involving the defense of personal injury, insurance, and trucking and transportation matters. He has been named to Best Lawyer’s list of “Ones to Watch.” Gilkerson, a second-year associate, focuses his practice on trials involving the defense of complex litigation matters, including personal injury.
