HeplerBroom Attorneys Help Secure Johnson & Johnson Defense Verdicts

Beth Bauer and Alexandra Haar were part of the trial team that recently secured a defense verdict for Johnson & Johnson and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. in a more than three-week trial in the City of St. Louis. The three plaintiffs all claimed their ovarian cancer was caused by the use of talc-based body powder. The jury rendered unanimous verdicts for both defendants on all claims of all plaintiffs.

Bauer, a partner in the firm’s Edwardsville office, focuses her practice on the defense of complex, multi-party civil cases and class actions, including products liability and talc litigation. She has also handled numerous appellate matters, including before the Seventh and Eighth Circuits, as well as Missouri and Illinois appellate courts. She is rated an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected to the list of both Illinois Super Lawyers and Illinois Leading Lawyers. She was previously named one of Illinois Super Lawyers’ Top Women Attorneys.

Haar, a partner in the firm’s St. Louis office, also represents clients in the defense of complex litigation matters, including pharmaceutical products, religious/school institution cases, and personal injury. In addition, she handles criminal matters through the Missouri Coalition for Right to Counsel. She has been named to Lawyers of Color’s inaugural list of the Nation’s Best Lawyers.
