Fowler and Magee Secure Defense Verdict in Defamation Case

In a recent St. Charles County defamation and injurious falsehood case, a jury found in favor of HeplerBroom’s clients on all counts.

The case involved parents of an autistic child who had posted a negative review about the plaintiff, an autism specialist. The specialist then sued the parents, claiming his company suffered reputational damage and loss of income. He also claimed he had suffered psychological damage and asked for a $6 million award. The parents were represented by HeplerBroom attorneys Meg Fowler and Tom Magee.

Fowler, a partner in the firm’s St. Louis office, focuses her practice on trials involving the defense of multiple issues, including personal injury, transportation, professional liability, insurance coverage as well as handling appellate matters.  She has been named to the lists of Best Lawyers in America and Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers.

Magee, also a partner in the firm’s St. Louis office, focuses his practice on trials involving complex litigation, including personal injury and trucking & transportation matters. He has tried over 175 jury trials to verdict, including matters in United States District Courts and the state courts of Missouri and Illinois. He is a past recipient of the Missouri Lawyer Award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly for being the defense attorney with the most reported verdicts/judgements. His numerous other honors include being named to Missouri Lawyers Media’s Power List of the 30 most powerful defense attorneys in the state, a St. Louis Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America, and a Best Lawyer in St. Louis by St. Louis Magazine.
