Missouri Appellate Court Reverses and Vacates Talc Judgment

The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, has reversed and vacated a roughly $68 million judgment in the talc case of Deborah Giannecchini v. Johnson & Johnson. The Court ruled that Missouri lacked personal jurisdiction over the claims of Giannecchini, a California resident, against a New Jersey corporation. HeplerBroom partner Beth Bauer was involved in the personal jurisdiction briefing and argument in the trial court. She also worked closely with the appellate specialist on the appeal.

Bauer is a litigation attorney with a primary emphasis in the defense of complex, multi-party civil cases and class actions, particularly for matters involving talc and pharmaceutical & medical devices. She has been rated an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named to the lists of Illinois Super Lawyers and Illinois Leading Lawyers.
