Hay and Wagener Published in Medical Liability Journal

Linda Hay and Susan Wagener have published an article in Inside Medical Liability, the journal of the Medical Professional Liability Association. Using the case study method, they first analyze the challenges faced by medical practitioners and their defense team in the aftermath of a hard-fought malpractice case. They then outline the importance of various communications topics defense teams should have with their clients. The full article is available here.

Hay, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, focuses her practice on the defense of all types of individual healthcare practitioners. She also defends healthcare institutions, such as hospitals, healthcare systems, clinics, and group practices against medical malpractice claims. She has received numerous honors in her career, including a Golden Gavel designation by the National Association of Insurance Women and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s Distinguished Member Award. Hay has also been named to numerous lists of top-rated lawyers, including Illinois Leading Lawyers, Illinois Super Lawyers, and the Top 50 Female Lawyers in Illinois, as well as being rated an AV Preeminent attorney by Martindale-Hubbell.

Wagener, also a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, focuses her practice on the defense of healthcare professional licensure cases. She also regularly handles medical malpractice and nursing home litigation. She is a member of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys and regularly represents nurses insured through NSO for license discipline matters. In addition to her active trial practice, she frequently writes and speaks on topics related to malpractice risk management and the defense of disciplinary matters. Prior to becoming an attorney, Wagener was a registered nurse, specializing in orthopedic and medical-surgical nursing care.
