Messina and Martin to Speak at Manufacturing Association’s Environmental Conference
Alec Messina and Jennifer Martin will be among the featured speakers at the Illinois Manufacturing Association’s Environmental Compliance Conference, which will be held November 20 in Oak Forest, Illinois. In their session on compliance requirements to avoid regulatory pitfalls, they will discuss the legal underpinnings for bringing an environmental enforcement action, the notice the Illinois EPA must provide to the company and the process the Agency must follow before initiating an enforcement action, some recent trends that expand these traditional legal underpinnings, and steps a company can take to minimize the risk of being the subject of an enforcement action.
Messina, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, is a member of its Environmental Law practice group. He also spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was previously Executive Director of the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group.
