Environmental Attorneys Speaking at Annual Conference
Jennifer Martin and Alec Messina are among the featured speakers at the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association’s Annual Environmental Conference. They will be speaking on the emerging issue of regulation of groundwater under the Clean Water Act, particularly as it relates to the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in County of Maui v. Hawaii Wildlife Fund. The conference is being held virtually on October 22.
Martin, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, focuses her practice on environmental law and real estate. Prior to entering private practice, she was an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Control Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. She is listed as an Illinois Leading Lawyer and speaks and writes regularly on environmental law. Martin is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois.
Messina, also a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, spearheads the firm’s Government Affairs practice group and is also a member of its Environmental Law practice group. Prior to joining HeplerBroom, he served as Director of the Illinois EPA and was previously Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner’s Policy Adviser on Energy and Environment.
