Murphy Speaks at Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group Seminar
Michael Murphy spoke recently at a Water Basics Seminar hosted by the Illinois Environmental Regulatory Group (IERG). The seminar was part of IERG’s 2017 Environmental Compliance in Illinois series.
In his presentation, Murphy discussed recently implemented requirements regarding settlements between the State and regulated entities. These settlements involve water permits issued under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program. As part of the new requirements, the settlements must now be posted for public notice and comment before the Court can enter a Consent Order.
Murphy, a partner in the firm’s Springfield office, focuses his practice on environmental law. He recently handled litigation in the Madison County Circuit Court that dealt with issues of first impression related to the new public notice requirements.
