Chicago Attorneys Present Educational Series on Medical Records Documentation
Medical records personnel, nurses, and administrators in the Chicago area are benefitting from a series of educational lectures on the legal importance of good medical documentation.
The series, presented at multiple nursing and rehabilitation facilities, is being given by HB attorneys Anne Oldenburg, Susan Wagener, and Tammera Banasek. Topics covered include recent changes in federal and state laws regarding the production of electronic medical records, understanding the legal process, and major areas of litigation and ways to avoid them.
Oldenburg, Wagener, and Banasek are all partners in the firm. Oldenburg focuses her practice on the defense of healthcare professionals, including all aspects of civil litigation and appeals. She also represents professionals before state licensing boards. Wagener’s concentration is on the defense of medical malpractice, nursing home litigation, personal injury, and health care professional licensure cases. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Wagener was a registered nurse, specializing in orthopedic and medical-surgical nursing care. Banasek focuses on the litigation of professional and general liability cases, with an emphasis on the defense of complex medical, dental, and nursing home issues. She is also experienced in AIDS litigation defense. All three attorneys regularly speak and publish on topics related to malpractice risk management.
